Madlib Preps Triple Album for Medicine Show Series

BY Josiah HughesPublished Dec 10, 2010

As promised, hip-hop superproducer Madlib has been dropping a full album's worth of material nearly every month this year through his Madlib Medicine Show series. Up until now, the majority of the releases have played out like personal mixtapes as the producer seams together tracks based on their genre. The next in the series is a big deal, however, as it will be a sprawling 28-track hip-hop album.

The full title of the release is Madlib Medicine Show #11: Low Budget High Fi Music, and Stones Throw has given it the unofficial subtitle Dirty Demos selected by the Loop Digga.

The album includes Madlib collaborations with the likes of AG, Guilty Simpson, MED, Strong Arm Steady, Karreim Riggins and Oh No, who joins Madlib as their new group the Professionals. Best of all, the compilation includes a previously unheard J Dilla/Madlib track from their unfinished second Jaylib album. The LP version also includes 14 Madlib instrumentals.

Medicine Show #11 is expected to ship in mid-January, but if it's a little late we won't hold it against the manufacturers, who are printing one-of-a-kind hand silk-screened record sleeves using "Hennessy-infused paint."

The triple LP or CD versions of the album are both available for pre-order now at this link. Hear Madlib's collaboration with Karreim Riggins under the moniker Supreme Team below or sample all of the tracks here.
