Last year, Andy Samberg and the Lonely Island mocked EDM with the single "When Will the Bass Drop." Now, Samberg has answered his own question by appearing on Major Lazer's "Bass Drop."
The shifts between whirring buildups (that sound a bit like an alarm going off) and thumping bass drops. It's not entirely clear what Samberg contributed to this, but it seems most likely that he's doing the processed yelps and quirky yells that can be heard amidst the thumping beats. The animated video shows lots of kaleidoscopic craziness along with Major Lazer's usual characters; it was animated by Andrew Chittenden.
Samberg was previously named as a guest on Major Lazer's new cartoon series. Diplo's dancehall project have an album called Peace Is the Mission due out on June 1 through Mad Decent, but this song isn't on it.
