This pairing of Acid Mothers Temple guitar guru Makoto Kawabata and Scottish experimentalist Richard Youngs is a real treat. Mixing acoustic guitars with haunting keyboards, harp and wind chimes, the duo creates five untitled tracks together that are otherworldly. The opening track, featuring dreamy vocals by Youngs, could be an acid-folk outtake from the early '70s just brought to the light of day now, while the second song, a minimalist drone fest with overdubbed acoustic guitar finger picking, is perfect meditation music. The third track is probably the most out there of the bunch, with treated vocals that sound like a helium-inflicted voice ran through a vocoder in a spaceship, making it perfect for a great late night trip compilation CD. Overall, a stunning collaboration that will hopefully see more output released soon, if it hasn't already.
