As we reported in June, Manic Street Preachers recently put a creased, yellowed postcard up on their official site, a portion of which read "We've made some music, written some words - our 10th album is being born." Now, the band has unveiled more details surrounding that tenth album, the suitably titled Postcards From a Young Man.
The album, which is set to drop September 20 in the UK (and, we assume, a day later in North America, but no word yet), will feature 12 new songs by the band, including "Some Kind of Nothingness," which features Echo and the Bunnymen frontman Ian McCulloch on vocals. Other notable guests include ex-Velvet Underground member John Cale on piano ("Auto-Intoxication") and former Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan playing bass ("A Billion Balconies Facing the Sun").
Postcards From a Young Man was recorded with producer Dave Eringa in the band's UK home studio in Cardiff. The album's first single, "(It's Not War) - Just the End of Love," will be available September 13.
Pre-orders for the album (both regular and deluxe versions) are available now, but only to UK shipping addresses from the British branches of HMV and Amazon.
