Mara With Marenitsa Choir

While this project features some of Bulgaria’s famous choral singing, what makes Sezoni so attractive is the musical space given to numerous duos and solo interludes. The solo recorder performance of “A Shepherd Plays” segues into the a cappella introduction to “He Plays (part three).” When the choir eventually enters it does so with a dramatic emphasis that is breathtaking. The bouzouki of Llew Kiek plays as prominent a role here as the vocals of Mara Kiek. Put them together with a choir and the resulting combination is exotic magic.
