Marathon

Marathon’s latest record is maybe misleadingly wrapped in beautiful, original looking packaging. The music on the record is okay, but far from anything worth remembering. There is tight guitar work and some decent songwriting, but it appeals to the lowest denominator of punk music fans. Marathon fall somewhere in between skate punk and hardcore, where more than ever it takes a lot more than basic songwriting to make a dent in the scene. Anyone looking for originality and risky music won’t find it on Marathon’s latest.
