French guitarist Ducret issues forth from the Screwgun label here again, but this time in the company of his working trio of bassist Bruno Chevillon and drummer Eric Echampard. On L’Ombra Di Verdi they demonstrate a fluency in power trio workings, but never give over fully to the drive impulse. Instead, they meander. They have a tasty, stylish, to-and-fro flow that’s impossible to predict within the leader’s compositional constructions. “Lust” is the track that explains a worldview from them to us, and there is no advice to be offered here but to seek Ducret’s music out and plug it in.
