Marianne Faithfull is currently recovering in a London hospital after testing positive for COVID-19.
The news was shared in a Facebook post by longtime friend and fellow performer Penny Arcade, who said that the 73-year-old singer best known for her hit single "As Tears Go By" has been in the hospital since March 31.
Added Arcade, "She has withstood and survived so much in her life — including being Marianne Faithful, that to be taken down by a virus would be such a tragedy. I spoke to her last week and she was hiding out from the virus but she has caregivers and someone brought in to her."
In a statement to Rolling Stone, Faithfull's representatives confirmed the details of Arcade's post, adding that Faithfull "is stable and responding to treatment. We all wish her well and a full and speedy recovery."
Faithfull's latest studio album, Negative Capacity, was released in 2018.
