While Mark Lanegan has kept himself in our collective consciousness the last year via his third collaborative LP with Isobel Campbell and an album of Screaming Trees rarities, the singer hasn't offered up any darkened death dirges with his Mark Lanegan Band since 2004's Bubblegum. To say the announcement of the act's follow-up, Blues Funeral, was a long time coming is an understatement, to say the least.
4AD has revealed that Blues Funeral will be released February 7 in North America and a day earlier in Europe. While a tracklist has yet to pop up, the record was tracked by Alain Johannes at his 11AD studio in Hollywood.
Johannes and Jack Irons (Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers) backed Lanegan on the outing, while the gruff-throated tunesmith also brought familiar collaborators Greg Dulli (Gutter Twins, Twilight Singers) and Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age) on board as well.
The Mark Lanegan Band have announced a string of shows in Europe, with news of North American shows arriving "in due course." You can check out the overseas schedule here.
