Mark Sultan To Release Sub Pop Single

BY Josiah HughesPublished Feb 18, 2009

You may know him as the BBQ half of the King Khan and BBQ Show, the front-man for Mind Controls, a former Spaceshit and Sexareeno, or for the solo jams that adorned his fantastic solo debut, The Sultanic Verses. No matter how you look at it, the fact remains that Mark Sultan has a way with heartbreaking garage pop.

Next up, the prolific songwriter will be releasing a seven-inch through Sub Pop. The record, which will be on yellow vinyl for the first 500 copies and pink for the rest, will be out on March 10, and can be pre-ordered here. The record features one new original, "Hold On," on the A-side and the Joe Meek cover "I Hear a New World" on the flip.

The record was recorded at Outside Inside Studios with CPC Gangbang member Roy Vucino on guitar and Cloudland Canyon/King Khan and the Shrines member Simon Wojan on bass. There's little other news from the Sultan camp, though his official website does have the following message: "so much news to tell you all about. coming soon!" Perhaps a full-length on Sub Pop is forthcoming?
