Mary J. Blige

"Right Now" (prod. by Disclosure)

Can't wait for Mary J. Blige's new album The London Sessions to arrive later this year? Well, you're out of luck with the whole release, but the Queen of Hip Hop Soul has dished out her Disclosure-produced new single "Right Now," well, just now.

The backdrop presents a soulful blend of swerving electro synths, a house-pop pound, and an assortment of screwy percussive production ticks. Blige waxes her familiarly buttery vocals atop the groove, pointing a finger at a game-playin' love interest ("why you holdin' back"). As the track progresses, she confesses to a change in perspective, crying out: "my love won't be the same for you no more."

The song was apparently also co-written with Sam Smith and Jimmy Napes, and you can check it out down below. A due date has yet to be affixed to The London Sessions, but it will also feature guest work from Emeli Sandé, Naughty Boy, Sam Romans and Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins.
