Iconic trip-hop innovators Massive Attack are having a fruitful year. After releasing Heligoland, the group revealed that they're working on a follow-up, as well as planning a joint tour with the Thievery Corporation. With so much creative energy flowing, it's a good time to give back, so they've announced a charitable EP called Atlas Air.
The release will benefit War Child, the same organization that Massive Attack supported 15 years ago with their appearance on the Help compilation. Atlas Air is a four-track EP that includes Heligoland's "Atlas Air," a new track called "Redlight" and remixes from former DFA boss Tim Goldsworthy and Warp-signee Clark.
In a press release, Massive Attack's Robert Del Naja said, "The initial pitch to support War Child and Help wasn't difficult: children are the innocent victims of war. We were quick to get involved. What's so great about War Child is they continue to make great albums and events. It wasn't a one-off; it's an ongoing project and that can have an effect long-term."
The Atlas Air EP is due out in November and will be available as a digital download or twelve-inch record. The vinyl will be strictly limited to 1,000 copies.
