For Massive Attack fans, when it rains, it pours. Fans had to wait seven years for the band's fifth studio LP, Heligoland, which came out in February of this year. Now, the trip-hop trailblazers have already started talking about the follow-up.
In an interview with the recently saved BBC 6 Music, Robert Del Naja (aka 3D) said that the band's guest-heavy approach on Heligoland is likely to change when they begin recording their next album.
"It was more kind of 'let's get together with some people we've already got relationships with like Damon [Albarn of Blur] and Guy [Garvey of Elbow],' and I guess it gave it a different feel," he said. "Maybe we'll work with less people, maybe we'll do something a bit more symphonic and instrumental. It could be completely different on every level."
Although it's exciting to hear the band speaking about new material so soon after the last album, fans shouldn't expect the new release too soon. Del Naja said, "I think the reason we've been doing this for such a long time is because we've not been in a hurry or burned out all too early. We've just kept doing it all at our own pace and doing things the way we want to do them."
