Mastery

Lethal Legacy

BY Laura TaylorPublished Feb 1, 2006

Lethal Legacy is an apt title for a record of blistering thrash — a deadly concoction of tribute and rejuvenation. Steadily firing off rounds of devastating ammunition laced with technical precision, Mastery’s re-visioning of classic thrash seems to be missing one obvious element: vocals. But a few minutes of the band’s "instruMETAL” (as they call it) onslaught, makes it clear that the lack of human voice on Lethal Legacy is no handicap. Short, more EP than album, Mastery’s debut makes good use of its time, tattooing its musical message into every ear-splitting note.
