Today (February 23), Toronto singer-songwriter Matthew Barber will release his fourth album, True Believer. It only makes sense, then, that Barber has now announced that he will soon be taking the album across Canada.
According to a press release, the 16-date outing will "feature Matthew playing a solo set that will be stripped-down and intimate." And given the DIY approach Barber took on his new album, it makes sense that his upcoming tour will be similarly bare-bones.
In a recent interview with Exclaim!, Barber revealed that the record was recorded at the house of fellow singer-songwriter/producer Howie Beck. While previous releases were based around full-band performances, Barber explained that True Believer was "basically just the two of us working on it."
Barber will begin his tour in Ontario and head west, swinging through several Alberta cities and wrapping up on Vancouver Island.
