Electronic whiz Matthew Dear has been riding high on his latest album, Black City, since its release last August. Between his busy tour schedule and a couple singles to support the album, the guy has been going non-stop. And the music just keeps coming, with news of the Slowdance EP, which comes out April 5 on Ghostly International.
A press release explains that the new record will focus on some reworkings of the original "Slowdance," a "tender piece of goth romanticism" that sits in the middle of Black City. The tune is first taken on by How to Dress Well, whose darkened version brings to mind "'80s R&B as heard from the bottom of a sewer drain." The track is also tackled by Bear In Heaven and Todd Edwards.
Despite the initial focus of "Slowdance," Black City tracks "You Put a Smell On Me" and "Little People (Black City)" also get the remix treatment. An unreleased song, "Innh Dahh," is featured on Slowdance as well, but it is only available digitally. Another digital exclusive is the Photocall instrumental remix of "You Put A Smell On Me," which is exclusive to the Ghostly International digital store.
Still pumping out the electro hits onstage, Matthew Dear is currently in the midst of a European tour with Interpol. Check out the dates below.
