Matthew Herbert Scores New Film 'Disobedience'

The upcoming movie by Sebastian Lelio will star Rachel Weisz, Rachel McAdams and Alessandro Nivola

While we haven't heard a lot from Matthew Herbert since last year's A Nude (The Perfect Body) album, the UK sound experimenter will soon be hitting us up with some new sounds, and this time they will be of a more cinematic variety.

Herbert has scored the upcoming drama Disobedience, Film Music Reporter points out. The movie is directed by Sebastian Lelio (Gloria, Christmas) and stars Rachel Weisz, Rachel McAdams and Alessandro Nivola.

While it's unclear what Herbert has crafted for the film musically, the movie is based on the novel of the same name by Naomi Alderman, telling the story of a woman who returns to her Orthodox Jewish home after learning about the death of her estranged father and causes a bunch of controversy in the process.

Lelio wrote the screenplay with Rebecca Lenkiewicz, and Disobedience is set to premiere in September at the Toronto International Film Festival.

This is hardly Herbert's first foray into the world of film scoring, and he's even worked with Lelio before on the director's A Fantastic Woman.

As of yet, it's unclear if and when Herbert's soundtrack may see release.
