Memphis Industries Announce New Albums From the Go! Team and Field Music in 2009

As the year winds down, London-based imprint Memphis Industries is getting to work on the label's 2009 game plan, telling us to keep an eye out for a Go! Team record, the return of Field Music and a few other surprises.

On the Go! Team front, the multi-disciplined party brigade are to begin work on their third album proper in the new year at their home base of Brighton, England. There's no word yet on when they're planning to drop this follow-up to 2007's Proof of Youth, just news that they're entering the studio.

Also in the works are a few Go! Team extracurricular activities. Ninja recently did "her old skool thing" on the new Rinôçérôse single "Time Machine," which can be heard here, and the Go! Team's Sam Dook has started the project Cuz with Minutemen/Stooges bassist Mike Watt. Cuz reportedly have an album "in the oven," as they put it, but haven't dished out any more details than that.

As far as Field Music goes, the leftfield popsters will soon end work on School of Language and the Week That Was and plan to get going on their follow-up to the Exclaim!-approved Tones of Town. The trio haven't supplied a due date for record number three or album title but they have shared the new live track "Share the Words" (see below) to give us just a taste of where they're heading.

In other Memphis Industries happenings, the label recently signed UK songwriter Amy Turnnidge, who is currently recording her debut under the moniker Theoretical Girl, and Absentee vocalist Dan Michaelson has started a new project dubbed Dan Michaelson and the Coastguards, whose upcoming record, Saltwater, is due out on March 2 via Memphis.
