Metallica Ask Blogs To Remove Reviews of New Album Preview

BY Ben ConoleyPublished Jun 12, 2008

International metal superstars Metallica have thrown a curveball at music critics that has some people asking, "What were they thinking?"

After inviting critics to a six-track preview of the band's upcoming album in London, reviews of those tracks started to appear online. In response, representatives for the band contacted a number of websites and insisted that any album reviews or thoughts be removed. This baffled bloggers such as the staff at The Quietus, whose writers were not asked to keep mum at the listening party or sign any sort of non-disculsure agreement.

The Quietus posted a response on their website and complied with Metallica's wishes.

Metallica have a long-standing feud with the internet. In 2000, the band won a landmark settlement against file-sharing site Napster after citing copyright violations.
