M.I.A.

"Zig Zag"

BY Josiah HughesPublished Feb 28, 2011

It's really starting to look as if the main problem with M.I.A.'s 2010 album // / Y / was in the final track selection stage, as all of her leaked material since then has been so much better than anything on the album. Take, for example, recent leak "Zig Zag."

On the track, Maya trades in the weird Atari Teenage Riot aping of her full-length with a banging electro track that sees her spitting rhymes over a sample of New Kids on the Block's "You've Got It (The Right Stuff)" and a beat built around a million synths and drum machines.

UPDATE: As Pitchfork points out, this track is apparently from 2003 but was only recently leaked by the producer, not M.I.A.
