In their self-titled debut, this three-piece acts as a tag-team; American-bred Andrew Wyatt, who comes from a producer/singer-songwriter background, lends his vocals to the eclectic tundra of long-time Swedish friends Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg. When the latter duo weren't busy remixing the likes of Vampire Weekend, Peter Bjorn & John and Passion Pit, or writing/producing for pop starlets Madonna, Kylie Minogue and Britney Spears (for the latter, they won a Grammy towards "Toxic"), this three-piece based in Gothenburg, Sweden created a full record of dance-beats and words of mysterious longing. Their speed is generally a take below Cut Copy yet Wyatt's vocal abilities are closer to Gentleman Reg's, thus proving an interesting combination. Each song has something mystical and dark to it (at times, morbid), paired with a fairytale backdrop. It might have something to do with recording in a 400-year-old home in Stockholm that used to be King Gustaf III's mistress' residence. But when the tracks aren't dabbling in the ready-to-be-remixed-for-the-club phase, others such as "Song for No One" and "Black & Blue" stand out for their jazzy and R&B tones respectively. But if you want to dance, go for "Animal" and "Cult Logic."
