Mikal Cronin Signs to Merge

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Nov 29, 2012

While Mikal Cronin has been plunking the bass off and on in Ty Segall's band for a while now — they're actually out on tour together right now — the California psychedelic fuzz-pop player is a solo artist in his own right. Details are mighty slim so far, but it's just been revealed that Cronin is getting ready to release a new LP, and it will arrive through his new home, Merge Records.

The label confirmed that Cronin has been added to its roster, and he'll issue a full-length follow-up to his self-titled 2011 debut, which was delivered through Trouble in Mind, sometime next year. Neither a title, tracklisting or estimated street date was given, but Cronin did issue a statement about signing with the esteemed imprint, "YYYYYEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!'"

Since Cronin is hitting North American stages with his buddy Segall, including stops in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal, might we suggest requesting a new tune? Or, at the very least, something off of Segall and Cronin's 2009 tag-team set Reverse Shark Attack?

Check out those tour dates here.
