Ming and FS

The Human Condition

BY Philip DowneyPublished Feb 1, 2002

This album might just have a few too many ideas in it. There are certainly some really good tracks, like the funky "Intro to Life," but things can get a little too complicated, with breakbeats that are unlikely to make anyone want to dance. Ming and FS take a stab at many modern genres, from house to drum & bass to breakbeats. Like fellow Brooklynites the Beastie Boys, they have a penchant for sampling '70s funk. Overall, though, the album has a cluttered feel to it, as they zip from genre to genre.
