Minotaurs to Drop Remix EP, Play Canadian Dates

Last year, Nathan Lawr's Ontario collective Minotaurs released their album The Thing, which earned our Mark of Excellence with its "Afrobeat-inspired funk grooves" and "soaring horns, sunny guitar stabs and bouncy rhythms." Now, the group are preparing to release a remix EP and have a number of shows booked to promote it.

The EP has the curious title of Fink Ployd: The Thing Remixed and includes contributions by Jim Guthrie, the Straggler (former Holy Fuck bassist and current Minotaurs member Kevin Lynn), Kite Hill (Ohbijou pianist Ryan Carley), and I Am Robot and Proud.

A press release calls the rework effort "funky and mesmerizing," promising that it will add to the "ever-expanding psychedelic and danceable soundtrack Minotaurs put forth." The EP is out June 30 via Static Clang.

To go along with the remixes, Minotaurs have a number of dates coming up this summer. There are currently only five gigs in total, but they are at festivals across the country, meaning that plenty of fans will get an opportunity to see the band in the coming months. See the schedule below.
