Missy Elliott Asks Fans To Name New Album

BY Dave SynyardPublished Feb 6, 2008

Missy Elliott has always breathed fresh air into her music, whether it be the innovative production of her classic singles or the videos for those songs, and now she's moving in a different, more interactive direction with a contest to allow some lucky fan to name her new album. (She calls it interactive, we actually see it as laziness or an empty gas tank.)

Her follow-up to 2005's The Cookbook is being prepped right now and is expected for a May release, but its currently without a name. This is where the fans come in. Visit missy-elliott.com to submit your brilliant album title suggestion and if it's good enough, you'll not only win bragging rights for your idea, but you'll also receive credit in the liner notes and a $500 "Respect Me" Adidas gift card. The deadline for submissions is February 20 and the winner will be announced on March 2.

As of right now, "Ching-A-Ling" (see video below) and "Shake Your Pom Pom," which are both featured on the Step Up 2 the Streets soundtrack, are the only two tracks announced for the new record.
