Just days after announcing their Apex Predator - Easy Meat album and a North American tour with Voivod, UK grind gods Napalm Death sadly have reported that longtime guitarist Mitch Harris is leaving the fold due to a family health issue.
While the details are slim, the English outfit revealed today (November 5) through their Facebook page that Harris has to take a leave of absence "due to illness within his family." On the plus side, the band maintain that this "not a permanent arrangement," but it's unclear exactly when Harris will return.
Fill-in players have yet to be named, but Napalm Death confirmed that they "will be joined by guitarists who we know can grind it out in [Harris's] absence" on their forthcoming "Through Space and Grind" tour.
Harris has been a constant in Napalm Death since 1989. He first appeared on the group's Harmony Corruption LP and has been the only guitarist featured on record since 2005's The Code is Red...Long Live the Code. The band had featured several other six-stringer, though, including Carcass's Bill Steer, Godflesh mastermind Justin Broadrick and the late Jesse Pintado.
