Electronic supergroup Moderat, which comprises Modeselektor's Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary and Apparat's Sascha Ring, released their self-titled debut in 2009 via Ellen Allien's Bpitch Control imprint. Now, they've announced plans for a follow-up.
Album number two is appropriately titled II, and the group unveiled it with the following statement:
We have known each other for 12 years now, and during that time we haven't really changed that much: We are still three guys mostly talking about hihats and tape machines while hanging out in the studio…[II] is, again and again, an experiment of exploring our similarities and differences and to interlace them to something new and exciting.
II will arrive via Modeselektor's own Monkeytown imprint on August 2. While details are scarce, we know it'll be available as a regular CD or LP, as well as in deluxe double CD and LP editions.
UPDATE: The album is now due out on August 6 via Mute, with the single "Bad Kingdom" due July 12.
