L'OFF Jazz festival is coming back to life. Returning to in-person events, the 22nd annual edition of the event will take place in Montreal this September 30 to October 9 with a series of 18 concerts held in 11 well-known venues across the city.
L'OFF Jazz will welcome musicians from here and abroad to highlight seasoned artists, as well as emerging talents in the Montreal jazz scene with their "ApérOFFs" series at Resonance Café.
Opening night (September 30) will see Joe Sullivan and his 11-piece ensemble present "Songs and Poems" at L'Astral with a musical repertoire based on the writings of various poets. Jean-Nicolas Trottier's 10tet will close things out at Théâtre Plaza on October 9 with "Chakras Suite," which will be recorded live for an album release.
Additionally, there will be the multi-venue "Grand Soirées" with the best of the best in jazz — including Gentian MG & Frank Lozano, the Doxas Brothers, Kate Wyatt Quartet, Julien Fillion, l'Oumigmag, Frédéric Alarie and Sylvain Provost, François Bourassa and Philippe Côté, Marc Copland and Quatuor Saguenay.
The underground "Fin des Soirées" series at Dièse Onze will combine jazz and current musical trends with performances by VENA [Rachel Therrien quartet], Levi Dover Sextet, Alex Le Blanc and Emilio Reyna Quintet. Also not to be missed are Scott Thomson's "Trombone Solos at Odd Hours," popping up at random throughout the festival in the main hall of Fonderie Darling.
Tickets are on sale here. Discounts are available for students, seniors and members of the Quebec Musicians' Guild.
