Despite the hubbub surrounding Wolf Parade's return, Spencer Krug is still carving out some time to make music under his Moonface moniker. He's teamed up once again with Finnish Krautrockers Siinai for the project's latest LP My Best Human Face, and now they've unveiled a sonic sampling of what's to come on the full-length.
Following up lead track "Risto's Riff," "Them Call Themselves Old Punks" takes their art-rock sound in a darker direction. It opens on ominous synths before exploding into a warbling burst of psychedelic sounds and Krug's dramatic vocals. From there, the song builds into a fully backed band affair, charging along with increasing urgency until finally crashing down at the close.
My Best Human Face is due out on June 3 through Jagjaguwar. Listen to "Them Call Themselves Old Punks" below.
