Morbid Angel

Morbid Angel are death metal originators and haven't let up for a moment over the past ten years. If you like Morbid Angel, you'll like Gateways to Annihilation - nine more songs (and two boring intros) that are, without a doubt, Morbid Angel. The big, heavy, Floridian production sound is in effect, as is the usual intense riffing, talented drumming and wrong-sounding solos that guitar types seem to like. I like it the most when the band slows things down to a sludge-y pace, their capability for punishment shining through the most under these inhumanely heavy conditions; when it's fast or mid-tempo, it's heavy as well, of course. And it all sounds great, perhaps a bit too formula, but with enough going on to keep your evil ears listening.
