Moros Eros

I almost made the mistake of writing Moros Eros off as another stale post-hardcore band just from the fact that they’re signed to Victory (home to Silverstein), but boy am I happy I didn’t! From the first urgent strums on "Quit, You’re Being Thoughtless,” it becomes apparent these angst-y, Georgia-dwelling boys are influenced more by the Blood Brothers or Cursive than their screamo label mates. Jealous Me is a monster rock album soaked with anger and robust energy. "Safety Net” could have been written by Toronto, ON’s DD/MM/YYYY, climbing the weird scale confidently with its romping electric guitars and messy song structure. Fans of Mewithoutyou will be aroused by the chaotic drumming laced throughout each track. But as much as Moros Eros do a good job at reminding you of great bands, they’re not just the sum of their influences. They take the reins when it comes to thought-provoking lyrical matter and almost accessible group chants, making Moros Eros a band easily enjoyed by fans of different musical backgrounds. Any band can attest to the fact that pleasing everyone is a skill not easily acquired.
