Mother Mother recently hopped on board the NFT trend by selling some exclusive crypto artwork (including visuals themed around the new album Inside, plus some unused artwork for the 2008 sleeper hit "Hayloft"). Now, the band have pulled their NFTs and donated all of the proceeds to an environmental charity.
The Vancouver band posted a statement on Twitter, addressing concerns that the energy consumption associated with NFTs has severe environmental impacts. Even though Mother Mother specifically teamed up with an NFT company with reduced energy consumption, they have still opted to pull the whole thing and donate all proceeds to the David Suzuki Foundation.
The band noted that the unused "Hayloft" artwork will be repurposed as a limited edition poster sold through their online store (starting Friday). All proceeds from this sale will also go to the David Suzuki Foundation.
In the message to their fans, Mother Mother wrote, "Thank you for your passion and for continually holding us accountable."
