Mount Eerie main man Phil Elverum just delivered his Clear Moon LP a few weeks ago, but as previously reported, the Anacortes, WA singer-songwriter already crafted a companion piece to that set called Ocean Roar. The musician has now confirmed that he will let loose his second full-length of 2012 digitally and on LP September 4 through his own P.W. Elverum & Sun imprint.
Like the synth-scored Clear Moon, Ocean Roar was recorded over the last two years in a converted Anacortes church dubbed "the Unknown." While Clear Moon offered "soft synth walls and landscape pondering," the supposedly more experimental Ocean Roar is poetically described as "a total wall of blue-grey oceanic fog." On top of seven new originals, the album also features a cover of Krautrock outfit Popol Vuh's "Engel Der Luft."
You can stream the sublimely hazy droning of guitars and organs on album track "Pale Lights" down below.
As previously reported, Mount Eerie will be making his way around the Pacific Northwest this summer, with BC stops scheduled in Vancouver, Nanaimo and Victoria. More North American tour dates are expected sometime soon.
