Mudhoney vocalist Mark Arm recently sung "I Like It Small," but he and the rest of the veteran garage rock crew will kick off Sub Pop's upcoming SIlver Jubilee weekend in a big way by performing atop Seattle's Space Needle.
As the Examiner [via Consequence of Sound] reports and Mudhoney confirmed, the band will rock the 605-foot-tall landmark on July 11, ahead of the outdoor street festival appearance in the Georgetown neighbourhood on July 13. As a safety measure, the combo will be tethered into place from the top of the structure.
As for the all-day edition of the Silver Jubilee, Mudhoney will play alongside Built to Spill, METZ, Pissed Jeans, J Mascis, Father John Misty, Chad VanGaalen, Greg Dulli, Shabazz Palaces, Shearwater, the Baptist Generals, Tad Doyle's Brothers of the Sonic Cloth and more. However, previously announced performers THEESatisfaction have pulled out of the event over scheduling issues.
On July 12, meanwhile, Sub Pop will put on a comedy spectacular at the Moore Theatre. Hosting the show will be Eugene Mirman, while comics set to appear include Marc Maron, Jon Benjamin, Kristen Schaal and Kurt Braunohler. David Cross had been booked to appear, but likewise cancelled over a scheduling conflict.
