Mumford & Sons have been riding a massive wave a success for the last couple of years, but the British banjo toters' world tour has hit a stumbling block, as bassist Ted Dwane has been diagnosed with a blood clot on his brain. This has resulted in a few shows being axed from the schedule.
A post on the band's website today (June 11) notes, "Our friend and bandmate Ted has been feeling unwell for a few days, and yesterday he was taken to a hospital to receive emergency treatment. The scans revealed a blood clot on the surface of his brain that requires an operation. Ted is receiving excellent care and we are being assured that he will recover quickly from surgery."
While it looks like Dwane will likely be back in tip-top shape soon, the band have postponed this week's gigs in Dallas, the Woodlands and New Orleans. These shows are expected to be rescheduled soon.
Mumford & Sons are scheduled to resume their tour this weekend at Bonnaroo, and there are no plans to postpone any further shows. It's unclear whether Dwane will be able to rejoin the band by this weekend, or if they are rustling up a last-minute replacement. See the updated schedule below.
