Murderdolls

Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison is changing his image. His first step is putting down his drumsticks and picking up a guitar. Secondly, he is shedding his angry-masked aggressive band for a simpler, more ironic one. Lastly, he has teamed up with Static-X guitarist Tripp Eisen and created a true-to-life garage band. The product is the authentic '80s-style glam-punk band the Murderdolls. The band's debut disc, Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls, is a musical horror film with snippets of famous classical pieces (think The Wedding March) and imbedded humour. There are full drum roles, lead vocalist (Wednesday 13) announced guitar solos and the recording style is simple and hollow sounding, adding to the fear factor. Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls is a very brave departure from what is to what was. The Murderdolls took elements of all the glam-punk and glam-rock bands of the '70s and '80s and designed a slightly more modern approach. The record is fun to listen to and light-hearted in nature. Highly recommended if you like the Plasmatics and UIC.
