British rock superstars Muse have written the official song of the London 2012 Olympic Games, and it is set to be revealed later today (June 27).
Titled "Survival," the new track was written with specific intentions for the worldwide sporting spectacle, according to the group.
In a statement, the band's Matt Bellamy said: "It's a huge honour to have the track chosen as such a major part of the London 2012 Olympic Games. I wrote it with the Games in mind as it expresses a sense of conviction and determination to win."
It goes on to say that "Survival" will be played during athlete entrances, medal ceremonies and as the theme song for global television coverage. In other words, you probably won't want to hear it ever again after the first couple days of the Games.
The song is set to debut later this evening on BBC Radio 1 and will be available to purchase digitally on iTunes immediately afterwards.
As previously reported, Muse will be releasing their sixth studio album The 2nd Law on September 18 via Warner Bros./Helium 3.
UPDATE: Muse's "Survival" will be only one of five official Olympic anthems. The others are by Delphic, the Chemical Brothers and Dizzee Rascal, as well as a mash-up between Elton John and Aussie electro popsters Pnau.
