Back in the summer, legendary English grinders Napalm Death let it slip that they were working on a new album, which they had hoped would hit stores by October to coincide with their North American tour dates. Clearly that didn't happen, but the band now have concrete details on their next metallic blast, entitled Utilitarian.
The follow-up to 2009's Time Waits for No Slave will arrive on February 28 via Century Media and should find the extreme outfit treading similar waters both sonically and politically.
"I won't explain the full meaning of utilitarianism here because it's an ethical theory, and as ethical theories go, the depth and debate around it is quite heavy at times," singer Mark "Barney" Greenway said in a statement. "It has a certain 'morality' aspect to it and that isn't something that drives me, so I also certainly have issues with it."
He goes on to explain that a theme of the disc is to challenge everything, to not back down and to fight conventions.
"For the sake of all our freedoms, you should never stop, as even the feeling of resistance is at least a signal to those who would like to entirely control and dominate us -- meaning everything from our instinctive behaviour to our human entitlement to walk the earth unprovoked," he concluded.
While previously we were delivered a new tune, "Legacy Was Yesterday," via a Decibel Magazine-issued flexidisc, you can catch a live clip of Utilitarian track "Quarantined," which they performed throughout their last trip, down below.
