The National Give Early Albums Vinyl Reissues

BY Jackie WongPublished Jul 23, 2010

Fans of the National, this is your summer. The brooding, baritone-rich indie rock outfit from Brooklyn, NY are giving the vinyl reissue treatment to their back catalogue, as the band continue to make headway on a rigorous six-month international tour in support of their fifth album, High Violet.

The National's 2003 sophomore studio album, Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers, appeared in stores on black and coloured vinyl on Tuesday (July 20) courtesy of Brassland. The band's 2001 self-titled debut will also be available on vinyl in the first two weeks of August.

This will mark the first time the National's debut album has been available on vinyl, and it's the largest pressing of Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers to date. Each record includes part of a triptych poster designed by National bassist, guitarist and graphic designer Scott Devendorf.

Special coloured vinyl editions of both records are available now through the Brassland store.

The National have a pile of North American dates lined up, including Canadian stops at Montreal's Osheaga Festival on July 31 and a two-night stint at Vancouver's Malkin Bowl on September 9 and 10.
