Vancouver post-hardcore pundits NEEDS are pretty well set to storm punk fans' speakers with the release of their upcoming self-titled LP next week. If you're looking to hear the Drive Like Jehu-inspired insanity ahead of time, though, you'll be glad to know that a full-length album stream is already up online.
The 10-song LP is steered by a series of wiry six-string licks and propulsive drum pummelling as much as it is by the at-times comical, politically driven howls of frontman Sean Orr.
We'd previously heard the "chongo"-chastising treatise "We Forgot the Records to Our Record Release Show," but you can now hear the band wax on housing crisis woes ("The Only Good Condo Is a Dead Condo"), deliver Joy Division-referencing paeans on aging, and unfurl scattershot attacks on scare-obsessed media outlets ("Clowns to the Left of Me, Dzhokars to the Right").
You'll find the album streaming below, courtesy of The FADER, while physical copies hit stores May 12 through File Under: Music.
