Outside of drumming and lyric-writing with Rush, Neil Peart was an accomplished writer, author and thinker. Now, a selection of the late drumming icon's words will be published alongside illustrations in a new book.
Neil Peart: The Illustrated Quotes will arrive January 12, 2021, through Simon & Schuster. Authorized by the late drummer, the 108-page collection pairs black-and-white illustrations with "the poignant words of one of the world's greatest drummers."
The book is authored by David Calcano and Lindsay Lee of animation studio Fantoons, who had previously collaborated with Rush on band-themed graphic novels in 2015 and 2017, in addition to last year's A Farewell to Kings-themed release.
Peart passed away in January at age 67, following a battle with brain cancer. A tribute event in the drummer's hometown of St. Catharines was recently rescheduled for 2021.
Tributes to Peart this year have included an incredibly detailed statue and a hometown landmark named in his honour. Rush bassist Geddy Lee recently revealed if the band had any plans to share unreleased music.
