Are you a "Fan," "Verified Fan" or "Superfan"?

A new social media platform called Fave is fighting bots and scalpers by requiring would-be ticketholders to prove their music knowledge through a "Fan Verification" system that unlocks "artist events, limited merch drops, early access" and more.

While Ticketmaster — which recently came under fire for its "dynamic pricing" system — has a similar tactic to test one's fandom, the Fave app asks much more from music fans, such as proof of concerts already attended, streaming activity, and even merch collections.

"On Fave, top-fan status and access to exclusive experiences are not just reserved to the people who can afford it or got lucky in some random giveaway — neither of those correlate to how passionate and deserving of a fan you are," Fave founder and CEO Jacquelle Amankonah Horton said [via Loudwire]. "Instead, fans earn these experiences through the authentic, heartfelt activities they've already been doing."

What's more is that Fave also ranks how much of a fan someone is through a tiered system, with titles like "Fan," "Verified Fan" and 'Verified Superfan" being displayed on one's profile. The higher the title, the more rewards fans can unlock.

Though it's true that not all "real fans" have to own every band tee and go to every show, if online posts about an artist are enough to become a "Verified Superfan," Stan Twitter is in luck.
