It's been three years since the New Pornographers gave us their Together LP. Even then, back in 2010, the band's own Carl Newman told us he was already planning a follow-up. Now, according to Neko Case, the new New Pornographers LP is nearing completion.
In an interview with Billboard, Case explained that the band is already at the tail end of recording their new album.
"The new songs sound good to me and I'm really excited to go back," she said of the band's studio sessions. "We'll probably have most of the vocals done in late July. And then I don't know what they have going for a release date yet. I leave that up to them, because I'm like, 'I can only make so many decisions.' It's actually really freeing for me to go in there and just be an instrument, basically."
As for what their studio dynamic is like, Case says not much has changed. "I've worked with all these people for so long that you get in the studio and it's the same thing — it's the joy of that moment where you can let go and you know, 'Okay, somebody wants to hear this music, we cannot worry about it.'"
Stay tuned on more details about the LP as they become available.
