The Brothers Kadane are finally bringing a long four-year silence to an end with another New Year offering, the Texas outfits third. The new self-titled album will be released September 9 via Touch and Go, the longtime label of the Matt and Bubba Kadane-led project, and will be the first album by the slowcore group since 2004s The End Is Near.
And while the self-titled album will only be the New Years third, the Kadane brothers have a hefty 17 years of music behind them, previously fronting the favourite 90s act, Bedhead, who called it a day in 98.
Here is what Touch and Go has to say about the new New Year: "Lyrically, these ten songs address the interlocked themes of lost time, frustrated desire, and the need for others. Although musically these may be the band's most varied songs for a band that made innovative use of three guitars, almost half the songs here are built around the piano it is the careful sequence of these songs that brings the story the lyrics tell together.
If September feels like an awfully long time to wait for the new record, the New Year will also heading out the road often with the post-Silkworm project Bottomless Pit this summer.
