Nicole Dueck

To The Bone

BY Carol HarrisonPublished Aug 1, 2002

To The Bone accurately spells out how this debut from Toronto singer-songwriter Nicole Dueck approaches her music. Her clear voice makes her honest lyrics stand out from her stripped down acoustic guitar; by rights, she should be courted for soundtrack work because of this sound and ability. As for the record, unfortunately nothing really engages this listener. Folk enthusiasts and fans of female singer-songwriters might find a nugget or two on Dueck's CD; "My Blue" is a highlight. For those of us who don't belong to the choir, we are left unconverted.
