Great news from Nile Rodgers: he's announced that he is cancer free. Last October, the legendary funk producer and Chic guitarist revealed in an extremely candid blog posting that he was battling an aggressive form of cancer that forced him to undergo surgery. A new post uploaded to his site Wednesday (March 16) addresses the situation, saying the surgery was a success.
"Today, my test results said I was 'Cancer Free,'" Rodgers wrote. "I was very happy."
As pleased as he was with the results, there were more pressing matters on Rodgers mind, namely the troubles in Japan. While Rodgers was very open about his experience of being on "Planet C," a term for cancer coined by a friend of his, the musician didn't want to feel braggadocious about his situation when others are in such a dire state.
"I do not feel comfortable talking about my good fortune when I am so worried about the people of Japan," he explained. "Today is bittersweet."
