Norwegian Black Metal Crew Zyklon Call It Quits

Despite recently telling you black metal types to get happy about the now Twilight-less Lords of Chaos movie, get ready to get grim again: Norwegian black metal dudes Zyklon have just announced they're breaking up.

The band, formed with alumni from the mighty black metal royalty known as Emperor, released three kick-ass albums that flew way too under the radar considering how damn good they were. Zyklon played their last show in Tokyo back on September 28, 2007.

Two years ago, Zyklon went on an official "break," and it looks as if they just couldn't get it back together. Instead of letting things drag out any longer, they've decided to officially call it a day. To celebrate the band's career, Candlelight Records will be releasing The Storm Manifesto, a set featuring all the group's albums, plus bonus material.

The group's members will remain musically active: guitarist Samoth is recording the debut album for his new band, the Wretched End, guitarist Destructhor is touring with death metal vets Morbid Angel and plans to record an album with black/death dudes Myrkskog, with Zyklon vocalist/bassist Secthdamon. Drummer Trym is keeping busy in his tattoo shop and has plans to be in a new band soon.
