Its been more than a year since this Winnipeg, Manitoba band issued their bombastic and achingly catchy Aim Right for the Holes in Their Lives, so naturally, a follow-up is coming together. Well, kinda. Dave Berthiaume, drummer and one of many vocalists, says "There were two or three [songs] that were cut from the line-up of Aim Right and Id like to see more cut next time so we can really ensure that weve got a follow-up thats every bit as good. As for new songs, a few were playing out and a few more are in the oven and not ready to come out.
The Novillero live show always yields more than a few surprises due to the varied instrumentation on their songs. Grant Johnston, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, explains, "We tour as the five of us. Say for The Hypothesist, those horn parts are easily translated into vocal parts. There are other ones that we end up forgoing horn parts. Its pretty fluid. Were not in a position where were stuck if we dont have the guests with us. Its pretty loose.
