NXNE - Gold Panda

It's never easy to play early in a NXNE showcase, but micro-sampling beat maker Gold Panda made it look easy. For one, his lonely, one-man stage setup was a red herring for the sheer amount of charisma the Chelmsford, England native could muster, bobbing this way and that as he twiddled knobs for drawn-out sequences of his bubbling, Japanese-influenced beats. Without a full-length LP to his name, Gold Panda drew from his ever-growing range of seven-inches to create a continuous mix that turned a modestly sized, mostly stationary crowd into a room of entranced, head-nodding admirers.
