A new Oasis film is headed our way. This time, it's a documentary about the band's historic concerts at Knebworth House in August 1996.
The film is being directed by Jake Scott, who's done music videos for Oasis, as well as the likes of U2, the Rolling Stones and R.E.M. The doc will come in celebration of the two-day event's 25th anniversary, and it promises to include a bunch of previously unreleased footage of the band's performance and the two-day event.
The famed Knebworth appearance came at the height of Oasis' peak, following the release of their album (What's the Story) Morning Glory? It saw the band playing to 250,000 fans, though two-and-a-half million people reportedly applied for tickets to see them. Support acts included the Charlatans, the Prodigy, Manic Street Preachers and the Chemical Brothers.
"It's a story-driven entirely by the music, a rock'n'roll experience, told in the moment, like a visual stream of consciousness that is built around the extensive archive footage from the event," Scott said in a statement. "No on-camera interviews or unnecessary celebrity recollections."
Both Noel and Liam Gallagher are named as executive producers for the as-yet-untitled film, which will be produced by Ridley Scott's RSA Films.
So far, there is no release date for the documentary, but stay tuned.
